I wouldn’t recommend this hosting company to anyone. They steal your money.

Streamline.net is a company of thieves. Do not use them.

This is how it works.

You get suckered in with low cost hosting packages. Think yay, cheap hosting, great! Then they neglect to inform you of renewals, so you are unable to cancel your account. Then they block you from your own domain. Then they bully you into paying for their most expensive hosting package.

I am in correspondence with Trading Standards, and the police as this company has illegally taken money from my account without my prior permission.

I have used Streamlinenet for a few a years (but certainly will not in the future) and have had two occasions where I have had to get my credit card company to stop them taking money of my account.

In order to have access to a hosting account one has to have a live credit card registered on the account. My latest problem is that I moved a domain name away from them and assumed that the hosting would then cease.

They renewed the hosting for two years without informing me and, once I had realised (i.e. money had gone from my credit card), they refused my request for cancellation even though the hosting is useless without the domain name.

Also it took them 10 days to respond to my initial request for support on this issue and subsequent response rates were certainly not the claimed 24 hours. I would avoid unless you wish to be ripped off!

Streamline.net has consistently provided slow hosting with a poor web interface.

I was going to leave them this year, but they sent me a renewal email with a very good, low price quoted. So, I decided to stay.

However, a few weeks later, I discover that they have charged my credit card for hidden extras I did not authorise, and their customer service has subsequently been extremely poor and they refuse to refund my money.

Do not fall into the trap of believing their renewal emails. I would not recommend them to anyone, and I will definitely be leaving them next time (sadly they have locked me in for two years ).

Once you have purchased domain or hosting services you find that you are on their autorenewal system. Changing to manual is deliberately made difficult in fact well nigh impossible. The dashboard is worse than useless as it includes all the domains that you have ever had with UK2 and it is impossible to remove defunct ones. The result is that it is easy to continue paying for services that you no longer require.

Their ticket system for support starts ok but when you receive an email response, if you have subsequent queries they are simply ignored added if you are lucky enough to receive a response all reference to the previous ones have been deleted.

Avoid UK2 at all costs even if it means paying a little more, you will regret it if you don’t.

The previous web design agency I worked for had a reseller account with Heart Internet, so the company used them almost exclusively for providing domain and hosting services to clients. Things have almost always run smoothly and uninhibited with Heart Internet. Whenever I personally encountered a problem or needed advice I was able to raise a customer support ticket, which would then be answered within an hour, which seems super-fast considering many companies will take anything from 24 – 48 hours to respond.

I believe a company is only ever as good as the people that they employ, and can say from my own experiences that they provide a quality service and the individuals within Heart I have communicated with are fast, helpful and know what they’re talking about. I no longer work for the aforementioned agency, and recently created a personal account (without the need for purchasing services) in order to speak with their staff via their ticketing system and received the same prompt and insightful help.

They remain professional, impartial and do not divulge sensitive information, which could easily be over-looked. Although they’re not the cheapest, I see them as stable provider of hosting services and continue to recommend them to people who need their websites and domains hosted.

Love JustHost, have been with them for years and dont regret it! I have deleted a file by accident once and just fired them an email and they sent be a complete backup of the site they had done! Have had one or two hiccups with them but they were quick to get it sorted.

So, on uk2. Their network is almost flawless. Definitely one of the best I’ve used. On top of that, uk2 introduced some pretty handy innovations. And from what I see, they are determined to keep them coming. That’s two. Unfortunately, when trouble happens, you might find it hard to reach technical support. Of course, you can get lucky and get your response right away, but from my experience this is rare. They have a lot of work to do here. Support issues aside, they are real good.

We are a reseller and have been ‘stuck’ with Fasthosts for 10 years. We regard it as by far the worst decision in the history of our company and would not even recommend it’s use for 1 site.

Performance is often bad on servers and databases, pricing is bad with typically free items being expensive, whilst they ‘now’ respond to tickets quickly, after much pain, getting even a novice answer is impossible. Let alone 2 questions in one ticket. They never learn and never admit another user has ever experienced the same (forgetting re-occurrences with the same user!), meaning the help and knowledge base is rubbish. All they ask is for access is manually made (as they do not have their own) and more info, even when it’s clear it is their services falling over.

They use their unreasonable ‘never us’ terms/we don’t promise anything to beat their clients into nothing and do not care if you go or stay. Even if a big reseller, which is a waste of time, as their direct deals are better and their services cannot be resold automatically or due to price.

You cannot imagine a worst, more destructive provider, even when ignoring the disasters their bad management has created with passwords/server upgrades. They will cost you more than you could ever save.

We wish we spent the days of re-developmet needed to escape years ago and almost monthly, even though their service has forced our focus off of providing web design!

Never ever consider them!

Nothing to complain about. I just hope they can continue to offer the same prices and service.

Only use for domain registration so far but I think they have a great control panel and the customer service has been fast the times I have submitted a ticket.

I dont think vps.net is that great to be honest. I asked the sales team if I could run gameservers on it, they said fine. I get my VPS and then they say i cannot run gameservers.

Performance on the gameserver was choppy at best also. Pricing was quite good though. Maybe for normal hosting, ie: not a gameserver, they might be better.

I wouldnt recommend them though.

I have been through the gauntlet of web host providers and I recently moved from 123Reg (webfusion) I found their customer support reachable if not always consistent first i tried the vps
Really nice kit using plesk panel then i find out any question about vps were answered with WE DONT PROVIDE support with this package so
I downgraded to a reseller account
and then found out the interface was out of the ark HA HA
I started looking for a fresh approach to web hosting and found out
about heart internet wow their website looks like the solution i was looking for.
A company that cares !
So i spent the last 4 weeks learning the system there
Everything looks great I got all the way to being set up with hostpay payment system
I admit it all looks great and professional
I set up my api with the cart and my merchant provider(all good ).
I just had a few changes of links to make to link homepage link on hostpay to my hp a simple task
not having any real programming knowledge i did well then bang
hostpay pages went down
I sent them a message to support asking nicely for some assistance
1 hour later no reply
4 same
I checked my ticket it was there
Reset hostpay to get my system back up ( I got to re- edit it all again
so Monday I didnt even bother to go online
So on Tuesday I checked my email NOTHING
I log in to my account the support ticket is deleted no ticket number nothing
I send back a new ticket
And Today Wednesday NOTHING
I thought justhost was rubbish but al least they replied to my support request
Heart internet promises so much but only cares about signing you up
after that they stick a big finger up at you and call you (me ) a mug

This company tricks you into a 3 month trial and then if you dont cancel they upgrade you to their most expensive two year hosting package. My credit card on their records expired and they will not allow me access to my control panel until i give them my new card details. This is despite the fact that i have paid in advance for the two years and still have one year to go.
Because i wont give them these details as i do not trust them i am locked out of my account.

Read the reviews, these guys use sharp practice to get money out of you and give a very poor service.

If i could give negative stars they would have many!

I have been with streamline for about 2 years, I originally used them for hosting small basic html sites / images etc. and it was fine, the control panel is a bit awkward.

Well recently i have had so many problems beyond belief, Firstly they wouldnt enable any php extensions such as PHP Tidy and Mcrypt (mcrypt for magento). Then i opened a new account which i was going to use for hosting my own personal portfolio / wordpress themes. they then tried to say that i couldnt cancel (within my 7 day rights) as they were ‘assuming’ i was a business and this law did not apply to businesses. I then told them it wasn’t a business, was not intended to be used for business purposes and last but not least it was not ‘Registered’ as a business. Still they were having none and eventually ignored my emails so i cancelled my card (they hold your card details on file and constantly try to charge it until they get there money).

Secondly i had paid for a 2 year hosting plan. Unfortunatley i did not see the email where it said it was about to expire, which wasn’t a problem as i had no intentions of renewing it. but because i did not say that i didnt want to renew it they assumed that they would carry this on even thought the site hosting has not been accessed for over a year and because my current account is also shared with this site i can not access any files on my 3rd site until i have paid £61/£62 for the site they tried to force me to renew. Even though i have paid for Site 3 they will not let me access it.

On top of that may i just add that i sent support emails on the 1st and 2nd of march 2010, and have not yet heard a response now on the 11th but i have had 2 emails from them saying they tried to bill my card and payment failed (good luck as i cancelled the card).

So there you go, they can take your money and send you emails saying card was declined. But they can not repspond to your enquiry / support emails.

Absolutely terrible.

Overall, JustHost is a great hosting website. I had some trouble when working with their customer service at first, but in the end, they did a really fine job.

I recommend JustHost to anyone who is looking for a hosting website.

I have been with vps.net pretty much from the beginning. Back in the days of the Beta program. Along the way their have been a few up’s and downs but that’s to be expected with such a new infrastructure. Cloud Hosting is in very early days at the moment, but vps.net seem to have perfected it in my opinion. If there is ever any issues they are resolved extremely quickly.

VPS.NET have also just upgraded their Node’s so you now get more Processor power and More Ram than you previously did. This was done to celebrate 1 year of VPS.NET and was a welcomed feature to all customers.

I have found that on the occasions when I have to contact support to resolve issues, that they are competent and knowledgeable in what they are doing. However the one thing that really stands out for me is the level of participation from the management team. You can often find yourself chatting to Nick, Ditlev and Carlos whether it’s for support or just suggesting new features, they are all ears and ready to listen to customers. Never have I seen this level of involvement from management of a Hosting company.

All that leaves me to say really is, if you are confident with Linux, or are willing to learn to run your own server then you can not go wrong trying out vps.net – and if you don’t wish to make a big investment upfront, then simply buy a daily node or two to try out the service. the nodes start at just $1 per day.

I hope you are as happy hosting with vps.net as I am.

After our problems with Fasthosts its been a joy to actually deal with a hosting company that gives a damn.

Support do just that, support you in getting set up and running asap. They are available and interested and speedy in their responses.

Thanks heart internet, please, please, please keep it up as the internet needs good hosts like you.

We have just move all our clients, own hosting and email away from Fasthosts after our latest dealings with them. We even offered all our previous clients free support to move them away from Fasthosts too we feel that strongly about it.

They are designed to lure you in, get your tied into them then punish you with un-connected customer support (you have to give you user id to each of the 5 odd people you always get bounced to for instance), advanced billing (they bill you first then send an invoice, no advance warning or “still interested” email), they use their terms and conditions like a club to beat you into submission, you can’t get refunds full stop, everything is an extra.

Steer clear, well clear. There are much better smaller hosts out their who actually give a damn, go support those instead.

been hosting with them for 9 months, they’re alright – server im on works for the most part but does slow down from time to time. their indian support leaves something to be desired, i dont think ill move just because its too much hassle but my website and my email works most of the time, with some exceptions – when i do contact them that stuff isnt working then most of the time they cant find the issue as its so intermittent – overall, nothing to write home about.

I have been with VPS.net for about 6 months. I am very happy with their service, they have had some big outages which in my opinion is their only black mark. They offer more power than their competitors and a better price structure.. I highly recommend them.

My experience of UK2 has not been positive. I have experienced more downtime than uptime. This is highly frustrating when I am relying upon the service to host professional clients.

Outage is frequent, unplanned and unexplained. Support is poor. The virtual chat usually fails to connect, and advises to raise a ticket. These are usually ignored.

If you want your hosting solution to be in the hands of an unpredictable organisation that seems to toss a coin to decide if the servers are online at any given time, then UK2 is for you.

Have had a few servers from them over the past few years and service is generally good, althought downtime is sometimes an issue.

Very annoyed about an email sent today at 4:30pm on a Friday to announce a 9 hour downtime on Sunday – giving myself and everybody else effected no real time to prepare or make other arrangements before the weekend. This is a huge black mark on their level of service.

signed up and within minutes i was updating my mail settings and add-domains, installing my databases and the like.. very quick and easy. good working ticketing system. excellent communications. i’m delighted so far.

very poor customer service, support pages rely on raising tickets which they either close with out response, close with their response or get closed by you adding more information.. so in essence you can’t have a conversation and you can’t get anything resolved. the service they offer for the price is a rip off. you can find cheaper elsewhere that offers more, with no hassle, i signed up here and am still trying to cancel and get a refund.. within 3 days. signed up elsewhere for around half the price.. already have the site up and running.

Had been a Streamline customer for 4 years. Their bulk hosting package was (is) very good value. Three years’ ago Streamline kindly donated a domain name and hosting to support The Prince’s Trust charity event I was organising. Deep down they were a good company to deal with.

However… time marches on.

You want to use ASP.NET? – more cost. SQL server? – way more cost. You host your Joomla sites with us and expect .htaccess + mod_rewite? Nope, don’t be silly.

There were a catalogue of issues leading up to their eventual dumping, including:

Streamline putting a note on their website (rather than emailing our customers) and then upgrading PHP from 4.x to 5.x … causing all our hosted Joomla sites to error out. Poor change control process.

We started to notice uptime slipping. Had complaints from several clients and were able to track it ourselves. Streamline would play down the issue (or not reply) – this despite several times per week finding a website(s) non-functional. Wait 20 mins and it’s all good (I suspect a website on the shared server was crashing IIS which then restarted itself). Uptime presumably refers to the network, not to the server itself.

We received an invoice for an SSL certificate renewal (payment was already taken from our Visa card). Odd really – we never had an SSL add-on to any of the domains. Streamline say we did but couldn’t find any record of the original order or the previous year’s bill. Despite writing (with a real pen) to their customer services director the reply came back that we were wrong. The money was never refunded.

All in all it’s a shame. On the face of it they seem to offer great value web hosting. Actually they offer low cost hosting but not great value.

We migrated many of our sites to CapitalServ.net who, like for like, were cheaper, gave far more in the bundle and who’s support was and remains excellent.

I have been with Fasthosts for a couple of years and have always found them to be helpful, at least until recently.

I have found when comparing them to other hosts, the con’s of being a Fasthost reseller are rising.

I have the reseller package and host all my websites FROM £57 per month. I say FROM because unlike a lot of competing hosts like heart internet who offer everything for £39.99, Fasthosts charge resellers for a bundle of extras, such as an advanced mailbox for £11 which just allows you spam protection and use of their SMTP servers, you only get 5 free 150mb MySQL databases – then it’s £25ish per database plus other extras. It ends up costing you or your clients a lot of money, so it’s hard to be price competitive in the market.

I have also been annoyed at the deals Fasthosts themselves offer as standard packages. As a reseller I cannot even compete with them in terms of pricing, as I have to pay for most extras.

A lot of hosts now offer 1-click installs from their reseller control panel for a huge range of applications and scripts, such as WordPress, drupal, OsCommerce and many more, a developers dream. Now Fasthost offer reliable and reasonable value hosting for your regular customers, I feel the resellers are being over charged for basic features and they offer no extra applications, just some free reseller images and email templates plus a couple more bits.

Apart from building one of their data centres near a river that is prone to flooding, and I am correct in saying this data centres has flooded before in 2007, I should now concentrate on the positive.

Fasthosts have taken a lot of steps to A. Stop things like data centres flooding. B. Improve on denial of service attacks and, C. Improve Their servers.

So… if you want a no thrills host, who as far as I’m concerned has extremely reliable servers (now), then Fasthosts are for you. Personally if you’re a developer, stay well clear.

I signed up with Streamline.net about a year ago. I was originally drawn in by their cheap prices and offer of a free .co.uk domain. I didn’t really know better at the time but I wish I had done more research, if you search online for streamline.net complaints you’ll see what I mean.

Now I should point out that it wasn’t a particularly well used site, it was a simple personal blog with very few visitors and the most basic WP theme installed, yet it was regularly down, dreadfully slow and support was terrible.

To add insult to injury, I received no email saying that my hosting was up for renewal until I got an email saying a payment had failed (due to my debit card having expired). I had thought about switching my domain and hosting over anyway so I contacted their support to ask to change the tag to my new, preferred host and they refused and said that they would not do so until I had paid for another year’s hosting and the renewal of my domain (which was not due to expire for another year)! The worst thing was, they were charging more than the previous year, despite their prices actually dropping. Further research suggests that they have a habit of taking payments without their user’s knowing.

All in all, a terrible experience, I cannot speak any less of them. The “pro” package I had was slow, featureless (no fantastico or cpanel) and probably the worst customer service I’ve experienced in my life. Prices are not even comparatively cheap these days either, avoid at all costs.

I’ve been with UK2 for a number of years and I’d have to say that they’re sometimes great, and sometimes bad.

Most of the time everything works just as it should: extremely fast and responsive.

But, sometimes, things go wrong for unknown reasons.

Sites going offline multiple times per day for around 15 minutes per time (UK2 not able to find the problem due to its intermittent nature); my hosting package becoming split into its component services and each service being billed separately; email going completely bonkers for a number of weeks (as reported in the IT press); and other, albeit minor, things.

Like with a lot of things, the quality of support depends on who you get. I’ve been trying to resolve a problem with my sites going offline (which happened last year), but I wasn’t getting anywhere due to the fools responding to my support tickets.

Would I recommend UK2? If I’m honest… I’m not sure.

When things go right, the quality of the service is exceptional. But when it goes wrong, you may be able to resolve it quickly, or you’ll get no-where and it’ll make the experience a frustrating affair.

Even with my problems, I still quite like UK2. Maybe, secretly, I just know I can’t be bothered to find another host because they will invariably have the same sort of problems.

I have been a customer of VPS.NET for about 4 months

from my old shared host to vps.net, i noticed my speed at least double and general performance has been excellent.

the flexibility is what sold me in the first place and i have to admit that initially you have to understand the way billing works to do that (eg you still pay for nodes in your account that are not assigned to a vps)

the pricing is more than competitive and for what you get you get a lot per node.

Uptime has probably been there biggest issue since i joined, they had a couple of major DDOS attacks one of which was several hours long, although not obligated to they offered compensation to all that requested it. they have had several other minor issues and one major issue, a full SAN failure, this highlights the needs to have backups as that SAN failure lost all the data of those that did not have backups enabled.

there have been some performance issues as well with that and these tend to be rooted somewhere in the SAN backend, but support has always been helpful in resolving them.

moving on to support, there support started off as very rapid and there speed has dropped somewhat in recent months, there front line support seems to be somewhat inconsistent with some support technicians suggesting things that were just plain wrong, there second line techs are much more capable however and often go beyond the call of free support tickets to resolve issues – sometimes even logging on to your server, i have used there on demand support ticket once and have to say they were very efficient and were able to document what they did also for future reference, despite the occcasional inaccuracy if i had to describe there support in one word i would go as far as saying ‘Fanatical’

they have good customer forums and although its unofficial a good few key staff members post there a lot and help out as well as the community which is very positive.

I have been with HeartInternet for over 3 years and have always found them to be helpful, quick acting, when there have been any problems.

I have the reseller package and host all my websites for £35.99 per month.

There were some teething problems at the beginning but over the last 2 years they have really upped their game and started delivering on their promises.

I had a problem a few nights ago and wrote to them via the support ticket. They got back to me within a few minutes, yes minutes, and started working on the problem. It took a few hours but they kept in touch regularly.

One of the great things I love about Heartinternet is that they offer hundreds of features included in the price e.g. wordpress automatic installation, phpbb, free web tools, MySQL5, Joomla CMS 1.5, WordPress MU. BuddyPress, Drupal Content Management System, phpBB 2 & 3 Online Discussion Forum, Elgg Social Networking System, too many to mention.

I can’t really fault them.

I was not paid to do this review and anybody can check my site to see that this is genuine.

Excellent packages. Not found any scripts or packages I can throw at it that have caused problems.

Brilliant uptime and an easy to use and extensive control panel.

Simple & effective!

Excellent hosting and domain provider with great value and features but some basic features that you would come to expect like privacy from whois for .com domains is at extra charge compared to other domain providers that provide it for free of charge and less (well one for my hosting plan) MySQL database provided then other hosting providers.

Overall the Speed,Support and amazing (touch wood) uptime means it is a great option.
